Review by Me Me Books

Penny Porter is your average 16 year old teenager, living in the coastal town of Brighton, she starts up an anonymous blog to write about her life and problems, such as anxiety and bullying, but Penny does not quite yet realise how her blog is about to blow up virally.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, I haven't actually read the book copy of this novel but listened to the audiobook by audible, read by Hannah Tointon.
As the genre is classed as Young Adult I was expecting something quite immature, which in some way's it was but this does not deter you, it is such a nice story that draws you in, if readers watch the author's Youtube page Zoella, you will know that she suffers with panic attacks/anxiety issues, just as the character Penny Porter does, Zoella relates her experiences through this book.

Penny and Noah's love story is so enchanting, and Noah's character is so delightful, I know that when I was 16 I would of loved a boyfriend like that, the only downfall is that I think it will give young girls false hope for a boyfriend that is like this character, an unrealistic movie hunk!!

For young readers this book is perfect maybe not so much for older readers unless you like the sweet innocent writing style, this book reminded me a lot of Louise Rennisons, Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series, the writing style is very similar, young teen diary sort of manner.

But overall this book made me laugh and put a smile on my face, I couldn't wait to get into work to listen to this as it cheered me up after getting up at 5am in the morning. Zoe Sugg has really done an excellent job with this (even though she didn't write it herself) it's a lot different to her typical make up/fashion reviews and I was really surprised that she had brought out a novel like this.

  5. I loved the book, I agree that it was at some points immature but it was a nice easy read and I was never bored and did in fact feel connected to Penny. Even though the writing style was for younger readers It was still a stimulating interesting read. loved your review and I completely agree with you.

  8. I read the book, and it inspired me to begin a blog. Though I still agree, it was all a bit too unreal and Noah was waaaay too perfect. I still enjoyed reading it because of the unpredictable twists and turns.
But when I learnt that Zoella wasn't the real writer it kind of ruined it a bit for me. Like, I would be reading and forget that this was written by my all-time-favourite YouTuber... but when I close the book I remember that it was written by some (talented) author that never got their name on the book. Also a shame that Zoella only admitted it when everyone began accusing her of the book being ghost-written. :/
